GB (continued) While the sound mix was being completed on the volcano show, he began the educational documentary Pacific Passages. Using his background in Oceanic art, he directed and edited this widely distributed video about Pacific island cultures. In 1999, it won the Golden Apple, the highest award for educational media in the U.S. In the past eight years, he has directed, shot and edited scores of Hawaiian language dramas, animations and educational shorts for 'Aha Punana Leo's Hawaiian language immersion program and helping develop a Hawaiian language television station. GB directed and produced the first Hawaiian language spot for national television via ITVS. In 2000, he completed production on the first feature film in an indigenous language of the Americas- Ka'ililauokekoa (see below) which won the Hawai'i Filmmakers Award at the Hawai'i International Film Festival. |
